Peng Jinhui was born in Hunan in 1992. She is a freelance artist.

Since 2023, she has been studying for a doctoral degree in Fine Arts at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

From 2017 to 2020, she was a master's student in the Chinese Painting - Landscape category at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

From 2010 to 2014, she obtained a bachelor's degree in the Chinese Painting - Landscape category at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

《风荷》Lotus Whisper in the Wind, 2024

北宋周敦颐在《爱莲说》中以荷花比喻君子:“中通外直,不枝不曼”,荷花在中国文化中有着丰富的象征体系,同时它也是中国画发展过程中的一个经典母题。在历代文士的吟咏下,荷花从自然物象逐渐演变成了精神性的符号,代表着在污浊中对纯净的坚守,清雅的气质也是净化心灵的媒介。

此幅作品吸收了清代画家恽寿平的没骨画法,传统给予我们的除却程式符号语言,还有虚淡等美学标准和艺术精神,像董源的《夏景山口待渡图》中那种简远、平淡的笔墨,打破了形体对精神的束缚,让画面成了容纳宇宙生机的场所。这种"饰终反素"的美学实践,通过对技法的超脱达成对气韵生动的精准把握,最终在若有似无的形态中,完成了对生命本源的诗性触摸。

The lotus flower in Chinese culture embodies rich symbolism. Northern Song scholar Zhou Dunyi praised it in“ On the Love of the Lotus ”as an emblem of the noble-minded: Hollow inside and straight outside, unbranched and unramified." As a classic motif in Chinese painting, the lotus evolved from a natural subject into a spiritual symbol through centuries of literati interpretation. It represents upholding purity amidst impurity, while its elegant essence serves as a medium for spiritual purification.  

This painting adopts the “boneless technique”(mogu) of Qing-dynasty artist Yun Shouping.  What tradition has left us is not only those fixed patterns and symbols, but also aesthetic standards and artistic concepts like the ethereal. for example.  Dong Yuan's "Waiting to Cross the River at Xiajingshankou”. The brushstrokes are simple and distant, not constrained by the shape of the objects, but instead making the picture a place that accommodates the vitality of nature. This aesthetic approach of eliminating complex decorations and returning to simplicity, through transcending techniques to precisely capture the essence, finally achieves a poetic touch of the essence of life in the indistinct picture.

在视觉艺术维度,中国山水画"失序性"的表达机制构建了物我交融的审美境域。在山水画创作中,主观的减少对“象”的追寻所导致的暧昧,在不妨碍理解的基础上,更能够增添耐人寻味之感。介于具象与抽象之间的视觉化的程式符号语言,因其消解了主客体的明确边界,使得艺术家的情感得以悄然渗入物象之中,实现了创作主体精神的永恒在场。

 

In the field of visual art, the unconventional expression methods in Chinese landscape paintings can create a beautiful realm where the human and the scenery blend together. When painters create landscapes, they do not deliberately strive to depict the scene exactly as it is, but deliberately leave some ambiguous feelings. This not only does not affect the understanding of the picture but also makes it more intriguing. The semi-specific and semi-abstractive symbolic language in the picture (such as the fixed rock and tree painting techniques) blurs the boundaries between humans and the scenery, allowing the painter's emotions to quietly blend into the landscape, and enabling viewers to always feel the painter's spirit in the painting.

在创作中,我以传统为参照,把自然物象变成具有符号意义的视觉元素,观照四季晨昏下个人那种细腻的诗意化感受。同时适度突破传统符号程式语言的规定性,通过笔墨和自然建立深层联系,笔墨从技术层面上升成了生命的痕迹,领悟到超越形体的存在真谛。

 

When I am creating, I will refer to traditional painting techniques, transforming natural elements into symbolic visual elements to capture my delicate poetic feelings in the early and late seasons. At the same time, I will also appropriately break away from the fixed patterns in traditional painting techniques, allowing the brushstrokes and nature to establish a deeper connection - at this point, the brushstrokes are no longer just techniques, but have become the marks of life, and I also experience the true meaning beyond the surface.
